Good for the Soul

I had lunch with friends today, and I cannot believe how much my soul feels better. The tension in my shoulders is gone for now, and my mood has improved so much! Even though the food was simple, it tasted good. I won't mention the donuts we all bought to take home. I can't wait to try these homemade treats in the morning.


Getting together with friends to talk about old times and what is happening in our lives now is the medicine my body needs. No pill could have made me feel this much better. Yes, we talked about what was going on with my daughter, but we also talked about times that we all have experienced together, former students and what they were doing now, plus our families. These are TRUE friends (so are the ones that could not come today!) and not just acquaintances. I value my friendships, especially since I have retired. We "get" each other and truly understand how life affects us. I think we know how each other ticks and responds to life. We grew up in the seventies and eighties. That era was unique in our eyes.


We all said that we would get together again soon. We all know it could be a month or a few months down the road because life happens. Whenever it is, we will pick up where we left off and enjoy each other's company like it was yesterday when we had seen each other.
