Note: I wrote this on February 10. I just debated publishing it then, but she is doing well with treatments now. I have hope that she will be successful with treatments.
Today was my daughter's first treatment for the lymphoma. We were up at the crack of dawn this morning and made the hour-long trip. First, she had to go to the hematologist's office and get bloodwork done and an IV put in her arm. The doctors and nurses were so good with her, trying to get her to relax, but her brother was the true hero in sending her a funny text that she laughed out loud about. We waited for the blood results and then were sent upstairs for the treatments.
The treatments began, and fifteen minutes later, my daughter had an allergic reaction that this mom will never get out of her head. The nurses said that everyone reacts in their own way to infusion. They were expecting what happened. I wasn't expecting the extent of it. Thank goodness for wonderful, intelligent, caring, and patient nurses who knew what to do to help her get through the rest of the treatment. They were angels on Earth.
One less hurdle for her to cross...
Later...
